I went out a few times in early November on the Patuxent River hunting stripers. Fishing (both shallow spots in the river’s creeks and in deep water) was poor – small pods of fish moving through and very hard to target with jigs in the deep, and the creeks were largely barren. Why? A rapid descent into winter, coupled with poor water quality on the Patuxent this year thanks to our record year of rain.
That said, things came together with a couple friends (Jake of previous blog fame and his buddy) when we went south towards the mouth of the Potomac. I’d blog about it, but Jake already did an excellent job covering the experience on his own (competing?) blog.
